The Countdown!

It's about that time!!!

Who loves to school supply shop? ME!!!

I hope everyone has had an awesome summer! I spent most of my time at the pool with my 8 year old twins! They are ready to get back to school to see all their friends.

I've been working a little bit in the library this week getting all the new books that we ordered over the summer ready for you to check out! I am so excited to share all the new books with you all!

As of today we only have 13 days until the first day of school.

It's that time of year!

It's that time of year when we all get Spring Fever!

The sun is shining and the birds are singing! Finally the children are able to enjoy a little recess each day!

Here are a few dates to keep in mind as our school year comes to a close:

Last Open Library date is May 12th (We will have a guest from the public library during this Open Library time)

Last class for library will be Thursday, May 13th.

Book Fair is May 17th -21st (No scheduled library classes)

All books are due May 21st.

Also we will have AR table for those students who earned it.

It will be this Friday in the library.

As of this morning the students at Cravens have earned a total of 11,770.7 A R points!

That is AWESOME!

The Countdown!

The countdown to Spring Break is on! But before we set off to enjoy our Spring Break, we still have a lot to accomplish this week.

In Library classes this week, we will be exploring some our Easter traditions such as chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs to see where they originated!
We will also be discussing what your family does to celebrate Easter. Some kindgergarten students shared that they have Easter Egg hunts and have a big meal with their family.

We are reading Easter by Gail Gibbons.

In our school wide assembly last week, we recognized several students for their awesome achievements in A.R.!

Let's Get This Blog Started!

I have finally joined the tech savvy ones from Cravens that have already started their classroom blogs!

I am excited to share with you all that is going on in Cravens' Media Center!

March 22nd - 26th

• We are continuing our author study of Marc Brown. Cravens students have learned a great deal about Marc Brown and his characters from the Arthur series. Did you know that Marc Brown hides the names of his children on pages in the Arthur books? The next time you pick up a picture book by Marc Brown look for the names Tolon, Tucker and Eliza!

• We are combining our author study with our study of fiction stories.

• The students are becoming experts at identifying the elements of fiction such as the setting, the characters, the problem and solution!

• In addition to reading books by Marc Brown, students have learned that they can go to www.pbskids.org/arthur to find games and other fun activities relating to Arthur!

• We are also counting down the school days until Spring Break! Only 9 more to go!!!

• On Wednesday and Thursday of this week we will also have the A R store so make sure you are reading and passing those tests so you can spend your points!

• Don't forget Wednesdays are Open Library days! Open Library is from 3-4 pm. Students in Kindergarten - Second grade must have a parent/guardian with them. Students in the third and fourth grade can stay at Open Library without an adult as long as they have a permission slip on file. Come join us for a great time!
